Do it Yourself!

Do it Yourself, or DIY is all the rage. From Pinterest to HGTV, it’s everywhere! Some people call it junkin’- when you take an old, tired piece of furniture or used materials and rehab it into something wonderful.  A little elbow grease, paint and ingenuity can go a long way to create a DIY success!

Here’s an idea straight from the Habitat for Humanity of Smith County ReStore using an old cabinet door, if you can believe it.  This cabinet door is made of wood, solid wood, the kind of wood you rarely see anymore, yet can often be found at our ReStore!

With a little cleaning, paint and embellishment, this is the cabinet door now. A beautiful home decor sign!

Chair Makeover

Our very own CEO Jack Wilson is here today to share a DIY project with us! Jack recently came across a chair in a our ReStore and saw some potential for it to be much more than a chair. With some paint and imagination Jack converted a regular chair into an adorable plant holder!

What you’ll need:

*Chair

*Paint

*Roller

*Handle

* Paint Tray

{FYI he bought all the items listed above in the ReStore!}

How great is this?! Thank you Jack for sharing!

Better Homes and Gardens DIY Magazine

Needless to say, we were SUPER excited to see a mention of Habitat ReStore in Do It Yourself Magazine! True, it’s not OUR specific ReStore, but it was still pretty neat. Do It Yourself Magazine, a spin-off of Better Homes and Gardens, teaches readers how to accomplish amazing DIY project on a low-budget.

They mention the Habitat ReStore as a great place to pick up home repair items. And they’re right! We have everything, including the kitchen sink!!
