As we approach 10 years since 9/11, we are forced to face the fact that life has changed in many significant ways. For some of us, it’s the way we view other people and cultures. For others it’s a difference in how they conduct their daily lives. Airports, laws, foreign relationships were all significantly altered the moment the first plane touched the tower. Though it is easy to focus on the thousands of lives that were lost that day, we can rejoice in the fact some survived. Despite the odds and circumstances, these people made it out alive. Here is the story of one such person who was nearly burned alive at the World Trade Center. She not only survived, but went on to write a book about the importance of life and how we should fight for it everyday.
Thank you to all of the men and women who risked their lives to make sure others survived. We will forever carry you with us in our hearts. Your bravery has made us proud.
To all of the families who suffered great loss that day, words cannot express how sorry we are for your loss.
