In 2008, Veteran Wendell Lowe applied for Habitat’s homeowner program. At that time Wendell had two dreams: to buy his own home and to graduate from college. In December 2008, Wendell became a Habitat homeowner. In May 2010, Habitat’s chief operating officer, Jack Wilson, attended Wendell’s college graduation. Today Wendell is a graduate student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
A Letter From Wendell
Hello Jack [Wilson]! I have been very busy getting set up to attend Stephen F. Austin. I was accepted in the MSW program at SFA earlier this summer. I’m looking forward to going there and working on my master’s in social work. It seems kind of funny how random acts of kindness from others can change another’s direction in life. I believe social work is my calling, but it may not have been realized had it not been for Habitat for Humanity. Thank you.
